Study Guide for Endocrine System – Chapter 10

1. Know the names of ALL the endocrine glands and the hormones they secrete. Also know the abbreviation for the hormones.

2. Know how the hypothalamus is involved in secretion of hormones of the anterior and posterior pituitary gland.

3. Be able to match the function of the hormones of the anterior and posterior pituitary with the name or abbreviation of the hormone.

4. Know the function of the thyroid hormones and their actions metabolism.

5. Explain how insulin, glucagon, interact and how glycogen is involved and where it is stored. Know which cells inside the pancreas produce insulin.

6. Be able to explain negative feedback and positive feedback, and give examples of each.

7. Study the questions given in the workbook, especially sample tests.

8. Be able to label a diagram of the body, and all the glands in their correct location.
