Here is Jacquie’s powerpoint from today 6/10: the-cycle-of-life

Jacquie said to focus on labeling the structures of female reproductive system and the breast. Also, study the menstrual cycle phases (questions 13 & 14).

Barbara said to focus on review questions 1-7 and to be able to label a diagram.

Please let me know if you have any questions for me!

Good luck! You’re almost done :)

Hi everyone,
I didn’t type up ALL of the study guide answers, but I did type up the answers to the specific review questions that Barbara reviewed in class with us last week. ch-18-review-answers1

Please let me know if you have any questions that I can help you with!

Here is the Powerpoint for the Urinary System. We made it to slide ten on Tuesday.   urinary-system

Some important things that Barbara said:

Slide 5: Filtration has to have pressure. Think about a water hose. If you want it to go farther, you apply more pressure. We don’t want too much pressure though because it can damage the filter. If the filter is damaged, then Red Blood Cells and Proteins can get through and we don’t want that!

The body filters things out, pulls it back, and then picks and chooses what it needs.

See page 422 & 423 for visual.

Remember: afferent is going IN, and efferent is going OUT. (Think of “e” as “exit”)

I will post the study guide as soon as I recieve it from Jacquie. It should be tonight or tomorrow.

Most of the information is in Cole’s study outline below, but I wanted to write a few more things that Barbara said in class.

Study the diagram on page 345, and be able to label a diagram on the exam. Keep in mind that Barbara mentioned things you must know and things you don’t have to know:

You don’t have to know: olfactory receptors, palates, opening of eustachian tube, hyoid bone, tonsils, thyroid cartilage, and cricoid cartilage.

You DO have to be able to label: sinuses, larynx, epiglottis, conchae (superior, middle, inferior), esophagus, trachea, nasopharynx, oropharynx, laryngopharynx, nostril etc.

Page 348 — She said not to worry about pleural space for labeling because the diagram in the book is not very clear.

This page has pretty detailed practice quizzes that might help you:

Here are the answers to the study guide questions from the book. Cole typed these up and was very nice to offer them to us. He followed the study outline in the book and the powerpoint presentations. THANKS COLE!!

I have to teach another class tonight, so I will have the notes typed up tomorrow and posted for you. I’ll try to include what she said to focus on for the test.

Hi everyone,

I know there was some confusion about whether or not there is a test tomorrow. I just got an email from Barbara and she said that the test will be on Thursday. Tomorrow, we will be finishing up the respiratory system.

Pass it on!

Here is the Powerpoint from Barbara on the respiratory system: the-respiratory-system

I will have some notes posted this weekend.

Enjoy the sunshine!!
